Our love of food dates back to generations of family who loved to cook and entertain for others to enjoy. Everyone is family when they come to Trattoria Romana—Come see for yourself!

Chef Luciano Canova was born in 1949, on a small farm just outside of Rome, Italy. Raised by both his parents and grandparents, food has always been the staple that kept his family together. His passion for food was instilled in him as a small child in his country home. After Graduating from the Culinary Institute of Italy, Luciano worked all around the world including Switzerland, Germany, and on a cruise line. Luciano’s passion has always been for food and people. His dream was to open an Italian Trattoria in the United States. Finally, his dream to open an Italian restaurant in RI has come true with Trattoria Romana. Luciano chose Rhode Island as the perfect home for his long awaited dream. The concept and overall experience at Trattoria Romana is to offer a pleasant and comfortable dining experience with moderate pricing. Combine this with the gracious service from his attentive staff and you will realize that you have found a truly wonderful dining experience. When you experience our fine dining near Providence, you will enjoy homemade Italian food cooked with the finest and freshest ingredients. The beautiful décor and life-like murals will make you feel as if you are in a Roman café.
